Hello,

I’m Annissa

Writing about oneself is never easy. But if you’ve found your way here, perhaps you are curious about the journey that built The Way of Yoga.

What I can tell you is that I am not so different from you.

Like many, I have walked through seasons of striving, navigating the universal rhythms of change, uncertainty, loss, and growth. For a long time, I chased fulfillment through external achievements, believing that the next professional milestone would finally anchor a lasting sense of peace.

A woman with long dark hair and brown eyes is outdoors at night, with a background of trees, streetlights, and parked cars.

Yoga became my path home.

I was introduced to meditation and yogic philosophy as a child by my grandfather, whose quiet wisdom planted seeds that continue to shape my practice today.

Years later, after a difficult season in my life, I found my way to yoga as a physical practice, but I stayed for what it revealed. It became a practice of listening—a way of meeting myself with greater honesty, compassion, and presence.

Since then, my life has unfolded across both professional and contemplative worlds. As a Yoga teacher with an MBA from Queen’s University and nearly two decades of leadership experience in higher education, I deeply understand the unique pressures of modern professional environments.

In a world that often asks us to move faster, do more, and push through, yoga offers something different. It invites us to pause. To breathe. To notice what is here. To come back to ourselves.

Through The Way of Yoga, I offer practices that support this return. Whether in a private session, a group class, or a workplace setting, my intention is to create a welcoming space where you can reconnect with what matters most.

For me, yoga is not about becoming someone new. It is about coming home to yourself.

I am grateful you are here and look forward to sharing this practice with you.

“Maybe the journey isn't so much about becoming anything. Maybe it's about unbecoming everything that isn't really you, so you can be who you were meant to be in the first place.”
